ICC CWC 2019: Key reasons behind England’s maiden World Cup win

XtraTime Web Desk: It wasn’t a World Cup final for the fainthearted persons as England wins their maiden Cricket World Cup title by beating New Zealand in the super over.

New Zealand scored 241 for eight, England, after thriving on Ben Stokes (84 n.o.), was bowled out for 241. The World Cup’s summit clash was tied and a super-over was needed to break the stalemate at Lord’s. Both the teams scored 15 runs in the super over but England won the game as it had more boundaries (26) than what New Zealand (17) scored through the pulsating contest.

But here is a few key reasons behind England’s maiden cricket World Cup win:

1) Brilliant bowling by Liam Plunkett as he took 3 wickets for 42 which helped England to restrict NZ on 241.

2) A partnership of 110 runs for the sixth wicket between Jos Buttler & Ben Stokes.

3) A remarkable 84 runs knock by Ben Stokes which helped England to tie the score with NZ.

4) A stunning yorker by Jofra Archer on a crucial final ball of the super over which stopped Guptill to hit a boundary.
