IPL 2025: Is KL Rahul set to leave Lucknow Super Giants before Mega Auction?
Xtra Time Web Desk: The uncertainty surrounding KL Rahul's future with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) continues, as the star batsman has yet to commit to staying with the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Reports suggest that Rahul's time with LSG could be coming to an end, with the batter expected to enter the auction pool for the upcoming season.
Rahul, who was signed by LSG for INR 17 crore during their debut IPL season in 2022, made an immediate impact, scoring 616 runs in 15 matches and guiding the team to the playoffs. However, his performances since then have seen mixed results. In IPL 2023, he played only nine matches before being ruled out due to injury, and LSG was eliminated in the playoffs again. In IPL 2024, despite Rahul scoring 520 runs at an average of 37.14, the team finished in seventh place, missing the playoffs.

Recently, tensions between Rahul and the franchise have escalated. Following a 10-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad in May 2024, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen having a heated discussion with Rahul and head coach Justin Langer, an incident that did not sit well with fans or team members.
Despite Goenka calling Rahul "family" during a recent event in Kolkata, where Zaheer Khan was announced as the team's mentor, the batter reportedly did not commit to staying with LSG during a meeting with team management. With the deadline for submitting retention and release lists approaching on October 31, both Rahul and LSG must soon make a final decision.
