Xtra Time Web Desk: Rohit Sharma’s words really reflect the kind of legacy he's built at Mumbai Indians — steady, selfless, and always striving for excellence.

Speaking to MI TV in an exclusive interview, Rohit said that MI didn't play their best cricket in 2024 and he had a the T20 World Cup to look forward to after the IPL season was done. Rohit said that he knew it was his last T20 World Cup and wanted to make it count in the end.

"It was a low for the team, and I thought we didn't play our best cricket. And there were so many things to look forward to after the IPL. I knew a World Cup was coming up, and then I had to shift my focus to the World Cup, knowing that this would be my last T20 World Cup. So I wanted to make it count," said Rohit.

'What I want to do for MI hasn't changed'

Rohit said that while a lot of things have changed since he started his 15-year journey with MI, the one constant has been what he wants to achieve with the franchise, which is to win the title.

"Since the time I started to now, a lot of things have changed. I used to bat middle order then, now I'm opening the batting. I was captain then. I'm not the captain now. There were a few teammates who I played with and won the championship, they are not there. They're in the coaching role now, so the roles have changed, a lot of things have changed, but the mindset has not changed."

"What I want to do for this team has not changed, which is to go out there and win games and win trophies. That is what MI is known for. All these years we've gone and won trophies, won games from a situation that no one ever believed. So that is MI and that is what Mumbai is known for," said Rohit.

What stands out is that he’s not just talking about personal form or runs, but the culture of MI — resilience, comebacks, and belief. With experienced figures like him still around and possibly mentoring younger stars like Tilak Varma or Dewald Brevis, MI might just surprise a few people in IPL 2025.

Do you think MI will bounce back next season under Hardik’s captaincy, especially with Rohit still being a key figure in the side?
