It was unlucky, but I don’t think it was a mistake by a schoolgirl: Harmanpreet on her bizzarre run out in semi-final

Xtra Time Web Desk: Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur felt it was unlucky the manner in which she was run out in the T20 World Cup semi-final against Australia at Newlands Stadium on Thursday. Harmanpreet’s run-out was a match defining moment of the game, after her bat – upon sliding into her crease – dug into the ground.

“It was unlucky, but I don’t think it was a mistake by a schoolgirl, because we are mature enough, we are playing international cricket,” Harmanpreet said in her post match conference.

Following the heart-breaking 5 runs defeat, Harmanpreet admitted the moment as a turning point, though acknowledged several others have fallen victim to the same dismissal.

“Sometimes it happens. I have seen many times in cricket, when batters are taking a single like that and sometimes the bat is stuck there,” said Harmanpreet.

“Obviously I will take that, and we were unlucky today, though there are some things we need to improve.

“It was definitely a disappointment because the way I was batting, maybe that was the only chance I could get out, otherwise, the way I was hitting the ball, I was taking this innings until the end.”
