From players taking fake-injections to Ganguly-Kohli ego clash: Chetan Sharma drops bombshell in sting operation

Xtra Time Web Desk: Just two days before the second test between India and Australia to be played in Delhi, selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma has dropped a bombshell during a sting operation by a national TV channel. Sharma’s revelations have left the BCCI embarrassed. The Indian cricket board is all set to conduct an internal probe into the matter.

What did Chetan Sharma say in the sting operation by Zee News? The Chairman of the Selection Committee claimed that Indian cricketers took fake injections to get fit that won’t show on dope tests.

“Players can’t clear medical tests but don’t want to miss matches. Indian Cricket Team players take injections & get 100% fit even if they’re 80% fit. These are not painkillers. These injections contain drug which isn’t caught in Dope Test,” Chetan was caught saying on camera.

Sharma also claimed that former India captain Virat Kohli wanted to defame ex-BCCI President Sourav Ganguly in the media as he felt he was behind his sacking from T20 captaincy. According to Chetan, there was a big ego clash between Ganguly and Kohli.

In the video, Chetan was on record saying, “Sourav Ganguly said that think once, in what might have been a video conference. Virat would not have heard. There were nine people sitting there, not one person. All the people were there… I was also there. All the selectors and board members were there. Either Virat didn’t listen or Virat did. I don’t know. We don’t know, Virat will know.”

Chetan further accused former India captain Virat Kohli of being a liar following his captaincy saga.

“Why did Virat say? He was going to South Africa as a captain. The press conference is about the team. There was no need to bring this topic there. The truth was that there was talk. Eight to nine people were sitting and talk was happening.Virat was lying. But why Virat lied, nobody knows till today. This is his personal matter. There was controversy in it – board versus player.”

Sharma further revealed details about Jasprit Bumrah’s injury. Team India’s pace spearhead was ruled out of the Asia Cup and the t20 World Cup with a back injury. He featured in a t20I in October only to be ruled out of action for another five months.

Chetan Sharma said, Jasprit Bumrah’s injury was such critical that If he had played even one match of T20 WC in Australia, He would’ve got ruled out for at least one year.”

The entire incident has left the BCCI embarrassed. The Indian cricket board will conduct an internal investigation into the matter.
