Spirit of Cricket: Deepak Chahar do not appeal after running out Innocent Kaia at non-striker’s end | ZIMvsIND

Xtra Time Web Desk: It was a sporting gesture from the Indian all-rounder Deepak Chahar as he preferred not to appeal after getting Zimbabwe opener Innocent Kaia run out at the non-strikers end during the third ODI at Harare Sports Club on Monday.

The incident that took place on the first ball of Zimbabwe innings. Chahar found the Zimbabwe opening batter Kaia backing up too far the crease and ran him out on the non-striker’s end. While on legal basis, Chahar had dismissed the hosts opening batter but he showed a big heart and did not appeal. With no appeal from the Indian side, the umpires did not have to take a call and allowed the right-handed batter to continue batting.

Despite the massive relief, Kaia’s stay at the crease was a short-lived one as he was dismissed by Chahar for a score of just nine. The Indian pacer bowled out a stunning yorker which hit the Zimbabwe batter’s toes.

Chahar returned to the team after being rested for the second ODI. In the series opener, he played a big role in India’s win with a three-wicket haul. This series marks the medium pacer’s return to competitive cricket after a six-month absence due to an injury which also forced him to miss IPL 2022.
