KL Rahul gears up for fitness test ahead of the tour to Windies; shares video of fitness drills

Xtra Time Web Desk:Team India’s dependable batter and vice-captain KL Rahul is gearing up for his fitness test which will take place at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. If Rahul passes the fitness test which is most likely, he will board the flight to the Caribbean before the T20 series against the West Indies. Rahul shared a video of him doing fitness drills at the NCA on his Instagram.

The Indian team has already reached Port of Spain and will have their first training session on Wednesday at the Queens Park Oval. Shikhar Dhawan led ODI squad will take part in three match ODI series beginning on Friday.

The selection committee has rested as many as five first-choice players for the ODI series. Barring Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, all the players will return for the T20I series.

KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav will join the T20 squad subject to passing the fitness test, according the release sent by BCCI.

Rahul was set to make his debut as the T20I captain against South Africa at home last month but was ruled out due to a groin injury. He recently underwent surgery in Germany and has returned to the nets. He was seen batting against Indian women team pacer Jhulan Goswami recently.

Kuldeep was also slated to play against the Proteas but was ruled out after suffering a blow on his hand in nets.

If declared fit, Rahul is will open the innings with captain Rohit Sharma against West Indies.

As for Kuldeep, he might have to compete for his spot as there are many spin bowling options in the T20I squad.
