Ireland Stun T20 World Champions India with Historic Victory

In a stunning upset, T20 World Champions India suffered a 34-run defeat against Ireland, sending shockwaves through the cricketing world. It was Ireland's first-ever victory over India in any format of international cricket.

Batting first in the opening T20I of the series, Ireland posted a competitive 182/9. Captain Lorcan Tucker led the charge with a brilliant 50, while Gareth Delany contributed 49 runs. India had made an impressive start with the ball, reducing Ireland to 51/4 at one stage. However, the Irish middle order staged a remarkable recovery to guide the team to a challenging total. Harshit Rana claimed three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each. Shivam Dube also chipped in with one wicket.

In reply, India were bowled out for 148 in 18.5 overs. Abhishek Sharma was the standout performer with a quickfire 49 off just 20 balls, while Shivam Dube added 25 from 14 deliveries. Youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi, however, did not make his international debut as the team management chose to stick with the regular opening pair. Meanwhile, captain Shreyas Iyer endured a disappointing start to the series.
