Xtra Time Web Desk: Mustafizur Rahman registered the best bowling figures by a Bangladesh bowler in the Indian Premier League, on his debut for Chennai Super Kings.

CSK bowling coach Eric Simons was dazzled with how Mustafizur executed his plans, in the IPL opener against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday, March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Mustafizur won the Player of the Match award after he finished with figures of 4-0-29-4.

Rahman ripped through the batting line-up of RCB, while claiming four wickets at the Chepauk Stadium on Friday, March 22. He also registered the best figures by a Bangladeshi bowler in the competition, surpassing a three-wicket haul claimed by Shakib Al Hasan for Kolkata Knight Riders. Mustafizur finished with four wickets in four overs, while giving away just 29 runs against RCB. Mustafizur claimed the wickets of RCB skipper Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli and Cameron Green to break RCB’s back in the IPL 2024 opener.

Simons added in Mustafiz’s praise, “He has been superb in the nets, both with the new ball and at the back end of the innings. One of the hallmarks of the way we go about things is to make sure that you learn from what happened and then you don’t start again with somebody else to learn. He would have learned from tonight.”

CSK will next face Gujarat Titans in their next match on March 26 at their home again.
