IPL 2024: Chris Gayle opens on MS Dhoni’s stepping down from captaincy decision

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former West Indies star batter Chris Gayle believes that Mahendra Singh Dhoni might not play all the matches of IPL 2024. He said Dhoni might take a break halfway through the tournament, and that is exactly why he has decided to step down from captaincy. Handed it over to youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad just before the tournament commenced.

Gayle said, “He might not play all games. There may be a little break in between for him. That’s why the decision. But MSD will go well, don’t worry about that.”

Dhoni has played only in the IPL since 2020. There was a lot of suppositions about his retirement in 2023 as the five-time IPL-winning captain battled through a knee injury and played the entire season but at the end of season, he promised to ‘definitely’ come back in 2024 for the fans’ sake.
