The meeting of IPL stakeholders, scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet members of the Indian cricket team and other medal-winning athletes from the Asian Games. BCCI officials will also be present at the felicitation ceremony.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had planned to hold the meeting with IPL stakeholders on Thursday. However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the meeting had been postponed.
According to Saikia, the meeting was scheduled to be attended by IPL franchise owners, CEOs, representatives of the state associations hosting IPL matches, and broadcasters.
Prime Minister Modi will felicitate both the Indian men's and women's teams for their gold medal-winning performances at the Asian Games. Saikia also revealed that a few IPL franchises had requested the BCCI to postpone the meeting. After considering all the factors, the board decided to defer it.
The BCCI secretary added that the new date and venue for the meeting would be announced later.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to felicitate the medal-winning athletes at his residence at 4:30 PM on Thursday.
India finished fourth in the medal standings at the Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The country secured a total of 85 medals, including 21 gold medals.
