West Indies levelled the five-match T20I series 2-2 after defeating India by runs in the fourth match. Batting first, the Caribbean side posted a formidable 247 for three, powered by a brilliant century from captain Shai Hope. In reply, India were restricted to runs, with Keemo Paul claiming five wickets.
Hope once again produced a sensational performance, etching his name into the history books. He became the first West Indies cricketer to score three centuries in T20 cricket at the international level. Before him, Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis had scored two centuries each, while Johnson Charles and Rovman Powell had one century apiece.
Hope remained unbeaten on 102 off just 50 balls, registering his second century of the ongoing series. He had also scored a hundred during the preceding ODI series. The West Indies captain has been in outstanding form, and his performances have played a crucial role in making the T20I series such a closely contested affair.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma also created history despite India's defeat. The Indian opener set a new record for the most sixes hit by a player from a Full Member nation in a calendar year in international cricket's T20I format.
Abhishek surpassed the previous record held by Suryakumar Yadav. The left-hander has smashed 69 sixes in 2026, going past Suryakumar's tally of 68 sixes, which he achieved in 2022.
Although India suffered a disappointing defeat, Abhishek's record-breaking achievement provided a notable individual highlight. With the series now level at 2-2, the contest between India and West Indies has set up an exciting decider.
