Kolkata: After 7 long seasons, Manoj Tiwary joins Mohun Bagan for 2 years (contract of 5lakhs for each year). Tiwary will be joining the Kolkata giants after the 2009-10 season and he is visually happy after joining the historic club.

“My main aim of joining Mohun Bagan is to win trophies as last season the club didn’t win trophies” said Manoj to the media. Tiwary also said that he had a family like bonding with his previous club kalighat and it was really tough for him to leave and join the Mariners.

Tiwary who is aiming for a comeback to the Indian team has accepted the challenge to perform well and is sure to pick up all the responsibilities that will be offered to him. “The only motive is to play well, become the highest run getter and the best cricketer”

Despite a good performance in the previous season, Tiwary was not featured in the Duleep Trophy however this season he is back in the squad. “Yes it’s a good opportunity. I will be playing with the pink ball for the first time in a day and night match, so the preparation is ongoing continuously at the moment. Having played only one game in the pink ball I am improving my stances for that. I have made my stance to a high backlift and have opted to bat in an open stance to manage the pink ball which swings a lot.”

When enquired about the Pragyan Ojha related issue, Majoy said, “I have not had a talk with him. Many have called him but his phone is switched off. We as a team are prepared for any outcome.”

On being asked about the Ojha issue has been a bad advertisement for all the cricketers, Manjoy added “He has been asked to join the team but for what reasons he is not joining is unknown to all. All the boys are focused in their own work and are trying to improve their game”

“VVS Laxman joining the camp has been a big mental boost up and we constantly get valuable input for the last couple of years” Manoj added.

“Playing in the home ground is of a great advantage for us. We feel great when the fans turn up in the stadiums to cheer us” said Manoy when he was questioned about home advantage in the Ranji Trophy.
