Virat Kohli likely to miss the third and fourth tests against England | Report

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India’s star batter Virat Kohli’s absence from the ongoing test series against England is anticipated to be prolonged. According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, Kohli is likely to miss the upcoming third and fourth Tests scheduled to be held in Rajkot and Ranchi, respectively. There is uncertainty surrounding Kohli’s availability for the fifth Test in Dharamsala, commencing on March 6.

With just three days before the commencement of the five match test series against England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced Kohli’s withdrawal from the first two Tests due to “personal reasons.” On that day, Kohli had arrived in Hyderabad with intentions to join the Indian squad, but unexpectedly departed on the same day, leaving the cricketing fraternity and fans in suspense.

Former South African cricketer and ex-RCB teammate of Virat, AB de Villiers did reveal during a live session on his You Tube channel that Kohli and Anushka are expecting their second child. The celebrity couple is believed to be in London.

There is no further official communication from the BCCI on Kohli’s availability. It is not clear yet whether he has approached the selectors or board hierarchy. Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid on being asked about Kohli’s status after the second test win in Vizag, stated that he is unaware of Kohli’s availability and that the selectors will consult him before deciding the squad for the remaining three Tests against England. The announcement of the test squad for the remaining three Tests is expected to be on either Thursday or Friday.

As the cricketing community eagerly awaits the return of one of India’s cricketing stalwart, speculations, and concerns loom over the extent of Kohli’s absence. The senior batter’s pivotal role in the middle order amplifies the impact of his unavailability.
