Video: Shakib Al Hasan issues unconditional apology for his on field behavior against umpires during Dhaka Premier League match

Xtra Time Web Desk: In a shocking incident Bangladesh all rounder Shakib Al Hasan absolutely lost his cool. Regarded as a role model in Bangladesh cricket, Shakib was seen kicking the stumps as well as uprooting them during a Dhaka Premier League match involving Mohammedan Sporting club and Abahani Limited. The video clips of the incident have already become viral across the social media.

It was a tensed derby involving arch rivals Mohammedan Sporting and Abahani Ltd. The incident took place in the fifth over when Shakib lost his cool. Shakib was upset with an umpiring decision against Abahani’s Mushfiqur Rahim. Expressing his frustration Shakib was seen kicking the stumps at the non strikers end.

In another incident in the very next over he (Shakib) totally lost his cool as he uprooted  the stumps and threw them on the pitch . In the match, Shakib Al Hasan scored 27 runs off 27 balls as his team posted 145 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Abahani were 31/3 in 5.5 overs where the rain interrupted play.

It remains to be seen what disciplinary action will be taken by Bangladesh Cricket Board for Shakib’s actions.

Shakib later apologized for his on field actions. In a facebook post he wrote, “Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens unfortunately. I apologize to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in the future. Thanks, and love you all. SAH.”
