The match was headlined by opener Shafali Verma, who scored the fastest-ever double-century in women's cricket, amassing 205 runs off 197 balls. Her spectacular innings, coupled with Smriti Mandhana's impressive 149, propelled India to a formidable first innings total of 603/6 declared.

South Africa faced a daunting task in response and struggled against India's formidable bowling attack. Off-spinner Sneh Rana delivered a career-best performance, taking 8 wickets for 77 runs and restricting the visitors to 266. This impressive display led India to enforce the follow-on, with South Africa still trailing by 337 runs.

Despite a valiant effort from South African captain Laura Wolvaardt (122) and former skipper Sune Luus (109) in the second innings, along with Nadine de Klerk's resilient 61, the team was all out for 373. This left India needing just 37 runs to secure victory.

Shubha Satheesh (13 not out) and Shafali Verma (24 not out) quickly wrapped up the match, reaching the target in 9.2 overs, sealing a historic win for India.
