Xtra Time Web Desk : Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is in the form of his life as he scored yet another brilliant century in the Vijay Hazare trophy 2021-22 to take his century tally to 5 in this year’s tournament. Along with these tons he has put his name in an elite list alongside Virat Kohli.

The 24 year old led from the front in Maharashtra’s chase of 310 runs on Tuesday against Chandigarh, with his fourth ton of the tournament this season. He was dismissed for 168 as his innings overshadowing Manan Vohra’s fabulous innings of 141 as Maharashtra secured a five-wicket win over Chandigarh. This ton took Ruturaj on par with the likes of Virat Kohli, Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal for the most number of tons scored in a one season the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Virat Kohli was the first one to achieve this feat back in the year of 2009 after which Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal scored four centuries each, last year.

This incredible feat achieved by the IPL 2021 orange cap winner has made him a solid contender for a place in Team India’s ODI Squad for the upcoming South Africa series. It would now be interesting to see how the selectors fit Ruturaj into the squad.
