Xtra Time Web Desk : Indian cricket went through a dramatic set of events on Tuesday as a of lot of speculations growing around the Team India Test skipper, Virat Kohli. On Tuesday morning quite a few reports suggested that the 33 year old batter had asked for a break from the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. But as the day went through, it was stated by a top BCCI official that Kohli would eventually play the series.

In an interview with PTI, the top BCCI official said, "As of now, Kohli hasn't sent any formal request to skip the ODIs to either BCCI president Sourav Ganguly or secretary Jay Shah. If something is decided at a later date or God forbid, he sustains an injury, then it's a different matter. As things stand today, he is playing the three ODIs on January 19, 21, 23."

Earlier, Kohli took a break from the recently concluded T20 series against New Zealand which was in turn Rohit Sharma's first assignment as the Team India Captain after Virat stepped down from the T20 captaincy.

Thus, the series against Proteas will be the first one where the Delhi batter would play under Rohit's captaincy. And it would be interesting to see how how the team plays in South Africa.
