Premier League: Liverpool maintain its all win record at Anfield with 2-0 win over Villa

XtraTime Web Desk: Strikes from Sadio Mane (71’) and Curtis Jones (89’) saw Premier League champions Liverpool maintain its all win record at home. The Reds edged past relegation threatened Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday. In another Premier League fixture Manchester City was humiliated 0-1 by Southampton at St Mary’s stadium. Che Adams scored the winner for hosts. It was the third consecutive away loss for Pep Guardiola’s side in the Premier League this season. The loss meant City remained on 66 points in second place after 33 matches; 23 points clear of champions Liverpool.


Liverpool registered their first win at home since being crowned Premier League champions 10 days ago.

Sadio Mane gave the hosts the lead in the 71st minute after he picked a pass from Naby Keita and blasted it past Pepe Reina. Substitute Curtis Jones doubled the lead for Liverpool in the 89th minute. With just two home fixture’s remaining, Jurgen Klopp’s boys would look to keep the record straight at Anfield this season.
