Although India is the designated host for the Asia Cup, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) may finalise the UAE as the neutral venue following a deal by the International Cricket Council (ICC) between India and Pakistan to ensure the matches between the two nations in major ICC events are played at neutral venues.

Earlier India refused to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in 2023, which was played in the one-day interntional format. Pakistan were forced to agree to a hybrid model, which saw India's matches played in Sri Lanka. In fact, Pakistan hosted only four out of the 13 matches in the continental tournament.

The ICC also said that Pakistan would not travel to India for major events hosted by India until 2028.

"India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC Events during the 2024-2027 rights cycle will be played at a neutral venue," the ICC said.

Pakistan will not be travelling to India for the ODI Women's World Cup in 2025 and the men's T20 World Cup in 2026.

India won the 2023 edition of the Asia Cup, beating Sri Lanka in the final in Colombo. Will India be able to repeat it once more!
