Xtra Time Web Desk: Virat Kohli has returned to the top five of the ICC ODI batting rankings following his unbeaten century against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 match in Dubai. The Indian batting stalwart overtook New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell to claim the No. 5 spot in the latest rankings, released on Wednesday, February 26.

Kohli, who was ranked sixth before the tournament, silenced his critics with a match-winning knock of 100* off 111 deliveries, expertly countering his recent struggles against spin. His innings anchored India’s chase of 242, reaffirming his status as a big-match player.

Gill extends lead at No. 1, three Indians in top five

Shubman Gill further solidified his position as the No. 1 ODI batter, extending his lead over Pakistan’s Babar Azam. Gill began the Champions Trophy with a century against Bangladesh and followed it up with a composed 46 against Pakistan, continuing his golden run.
