Xtra Time Web Desk: Mr. Pritish Kushari, a renowned contract bridge player who has also represented India, the state of West Bengal and the Indian Railways successfully on several occasions for over 40 years at both National as well as international events, has tested positive for COVID-19 despite getting vaccinated.

He is a cancer survivor who went on to win several top awards in Indian Bridge even after his recovery, such as the Holkar Trophy. Admitted to AMRI hospital in Kolkata on the 29th of April, he has been on ventilator support and though he has a medical insurance, his hospital bill has far surpassed the insured amount, and it is mentioned that it continues to shoot up by approximately Rs. 1 lakh daily.

An appeal has been circulated for financial assistance, which his family is in dire need of at this point in time. Although his condition is marginally improving, the financial situation is very difficult. The appeal requested that the Indian Railways, the Ministry of Sports and the State Government be approached for assistance. He is a true legend of the Indian Bridge scene, and it is unfortunate that a sportsperson of his calibre and repute is stuck in such an unfortunate situation.
