Record rampage! Aussies demolish Scotland to set new world record
Xtra Time Web Desk: Australian batter Travis Head and captain Mitch Marsh set a new world record for a powerplay, leading Australia to a dominant T20 win against Scotland at The Grange in Edinburgh. Head’s explosive 80 off 25 balls equaled the fastest half-century by an Australian in T20 cricket, helping Australia to a record 1-113 after six overs, despite Jake Fraser-McGurk’s duck on debut.
Chasing Scotland’s 9-154, Head and Marsh launched a brutal assault on the Scottish bowlers, forging a 113-run partnership. Marsh scored 39 off 12 balls, including five fours and three sixes, before falling to Michael Leask off Mark Watt in the seventh over. Head continued his aggressive innings, but fell short of breaking Aaron Finch’s Australian T20 century record, finishing with 80 from 25 balls.
