Xtra Time Web Desk: The BCCI on Sunday, September 8, announced India's squad for the upcoming first Test against Bangladesh, marking the return of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and the inclusion of Yash Dayal, who received his maiden call-up. Shreyas Iyer, however, missed out on selection.

Jasprit Bumrah makes a much-anticipated comeback to international cricket after last featuring in India's T20 World Cup triumph in June. Bumrah will lead the pace attack alongside Mohammed Siraj, with Akash Deep and debutant Yash Dayal also in the squad. India has opted for a spin-heavy lineup, including Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav, all of whom retain their places.

Pant’s return comes after an impressive display in the Duleep Trophy, where he played a crucial knock of 61 from 47 balls and showcased his wicketkeeping brilliance. Despite Dhruv Jurel retaining his place after a promising debut series against England, Pant is expected to be the first-choice wicketkeeper-batter.

Star batter Virat Kohli also returns to the Test setup after missing the previous series due to personal reasons. The focus will be on how India handles Bangladesh's potent spin attack, which played a key role in their recent clean sweep against Pakistan.
