Xtra Time Web Desk: India's Navdeep Singh clinched the nation's seventh gold medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on September 7, setting a new Paralympic record in the F41 javelin event with a throw of 47.32 meters, surpassing China's Pengxiang Sun’s Tokyo 2020 record. Initially winning silver, Navdeep’s medal was upgraded to gold after Iran’s Beit Sadegh, who threw 47.64 meters, was disqualified for unsporting conduct.

Navdeep's journey to victory was dramatic. After stumbling on his first throw, his coach playfully reprimanded him. Rising to the challenge, Navdeep’s second throw placed him among the top contenders, and his third attempt broke the record. Despite Sadegh briefly overtaking him with his fifth throw, the disqualification confirmed Navdeep's gold.
