Xtra Time Web Desk: Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal lauded the Bangladeshi team's meticulous strategy, crediting the analyst for Virat Kohli's dismissal on Day 1 of the first Test in Chennai. Kohli, making his much-anticipated return to Test cricket on Indian soil, was dismissed for just 6 runs in a well-planned move orchestrated by the visitors.

Speaking during the lunch break on Sports18, Tamim emphasized how even the greatest players are vulnerable at times. "Virat's returning to Test cricket after a while, so he wants to feel the ball. It happens to everyone. We understand that desire. The area where he got out is one where he's been dismissed often. This was a dismissal that makes the analyst look like a magician. It was brilliantly planned, and Virat fell for it."

Kohli's return to the Indian Test squad, his first appearance on home soil since March 2023, was eagerly awaited by fans at the M. Chidambaram Stadium. The crowd erupted as he walked out to bat, but his time at the crease was short-lived. Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud bowled a teasing delivery outside off-stump, luring Kohli into a loose drive, resulting in a catch by wicketkeeper Litton Das. It was Hasan's third wicket of the session, putting India on the back foot before lunch.

Rohit Sharma, India's captain, was visibly frustrated as the team lost three early wickets, including Kohli's. Former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel also commented on the dismissal, aligning with Tamim's analysis. "After a 556-day gap since his last Test innings in India, Kohli wanted to feel the ball on his bat. That eagerness, combined with the opposition's plan, led to his downfall," Parthiv remarked, suggesting Kohli may approach his second innings more cautiously, leaving balls outside the off-stump. "It happens to the best of us," he concluded.
