Xtra Time Web Desk: India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has subtly criticized England's "Bazball" approach, emphasizing that his team's primary focus remains on securing victories as they gear up for their two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting September 19. Indian cricket fans are eagerly anticipating Gambhir's debut in Test cricket as the team's new head coach.

In a pre-match press conference, Gambhir highlighted his belief that Test cricket does not necessitate a specific style of play, asserting that results are what truly matter. He stressed the importance of adaptability, expressing a desire for his team to be versatile and responsive to varying conditions and situations on the field.

"I've always been a believer that the best style is the style that wins, and we want to be a team that adapts and that learns quickly rather than adopting one style. If you start adopting one style, then there is no growth. We want guys to be playing the situation, the conditions, and then keep growing every day, and that is all that matters," Gambhir said.

"All this, giving a name to a certain style and playing only one way. So ultimately, sport is all about results. And the best as I just mentioned, the best style is the style that wins," he added.

England’s "Bazball" strategy, popularized by coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, has stirred significant discussion for its aggressive and unconventional approach. Gambhir’s comments seem to add to the ongoing debate surrounding this style.

Since assuming the role of India’s head coach, Gambhir has led the team to a T20 series win over Sri Lanka, though they were later defeated in the ODI series against the same opponents. With a full-strength squad, including stars like Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, Gambhir’s first Test series is highly anticipated. Indian fans hope the team will continue their strong performance in home Tests and maintain their winning momentum.
