Internet Desk: West Indian power hitter Andre Russell was disallowed to play cricket for on year on Tuesday as he failed to file his whereabouts three times in 2015.
The two-times T-20 World Cup winner failed the drug test under World Anti-Doping Agency(WADA) rules.
“Andre Russell was found guilty of a doping violation,” Hugh Faulkner, chairman of the independent anti-doping tribunal that handed out the punishment, said in a statement.
The 28-year-old Jamaican, who helped the West Indies win their second World T20 title in 2016, will be banned for a year from Jan 31. He is also a player of Kolkata Knight Riders and will miss this edition of the Indian Premier League.
