ISL 2021-22 : SC East Bengal bounces back from behind to earn a thrilling 2-2 draw against Chennaiyin FC

Xtra Time Web Desk : SC East Bengal on Wednesday earned a thrilling 2-2 draw against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League with an equaliser in the last moments of the game, that too in the added time.

The match started with an unfortunate Hira Mondal own goal on the 2 minute mark, which gave Chennaiyin FC the all important lead. The game however was an end to end affair as both teams notched up control of the ball to keep the intensity of the game at a high level. The team from South however doubled their lead on the 14 minute mark from a brilliant Meetal solo goal as he fainted past the Red and Gold defender to put a rocket of a shot past Arindam. The first half however ended with a 2-0 scoreline, with the Torchbearers trailing.

In the second half however, things got different as SC East Bengal came all guns blazing at their opponents. Rivera’s team organized attacks after attacks which finally turned into success when Darren Sidoel halved Chennaiyin’s lead with a world class free kick on the 61st minute of the match.

And after that brilliant 1st goal, the Torchbearers piled up shots after shots at their defensive opponents and finally equalised the scoreline to 2-2 as Hnamte scored a thrilling goal at the added time (90+1) to earn a point for his team from this nail biting clash.

SC East Bengal next face Odisha FC on February 7.
