ISL 2021-22: SC East Bengal appoints Mridul Banerjee as Team Manager

Xtra Time Web Desk: SC East Bengal on Tuesday named Mridul Banerjee as the team manager for the Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 season. The former East Bengal coach Mridul Banerjee will also assist the coaching staff as the second Indian assistant coach, along with former India captain Renedy Singh.

Mridul Banerjee brings with him a wealth of experience, having coaching stints with East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Indian Arrows, India U-16 and India U-19 teams among others.

In an interview to SC East Bengal website, Banerjee shared his thrill at being appointed the team manager.

“It is always a matter of pride getting to work with SC East Bengal. This is a new role for me and I am ready for the challenge. I have enough experience in Indian football administration to lean on. Managing the team on and off the field is of utmost importance and I will try to ensure everything is in order,” said Banerjee who has worked with Delhi Dynamos in the ISL.

The AFC A-Licensed coach also guided the Bengal U-21 team to two successive national championships in 2001 and 2002 and also coached Mohammedan Sporting to a second-place finish in the Calcutta Premier League in 2016.
