Is Venkatesh Iyer & Ruturaj Gaikwad the biggest flops this season? | IPL 2022

Xtra Time Web Desk: Is Venkatesh Iyer proving to be a one season wonder for Kolkata Knight Riders. Well, his records this season suggests so. So far in his 9 innings Venkatesh has scored only 132 runs.  In the previous edition of IPL, he ended up scoring 370 runs from just 10 innings with an average of only 16.5. Remember, Venkatesh Iyer was retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders. It has been a season to forget for the cricketer from Madhya Pradesh after he failed miserably yet again on Thursday against Delhi Capitals. He was dismissed for six off 12 deliveries, Venkatesh joins a string of failures which includes the likes of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) flop Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Chennai Super Kings batter Ruturaj Gaikwad is another big flop of the campaign. So far in the tournament, Ruturaj has amassed 138 runs in eight matches while he averages 19.71 for the season. The batter from Maharashtra amassed 635 runs from 16 innings last season. The 2021 IPL Orange Cap winner has been struggling for form, although he did play a 73-run knock against Gujarat Titans (GT), but that remains his solitary best performance.

Another big failure this season so far has been Shardul Thakur. He was the pick of Chennai Super Kings bowlers last season with 21 wickets from 16 matches. But so far this season Shardul has picked only 4 wickets so far for Delhi Capitals from 8 matches.
