IPL 2024: Rajkumar Sharma said that there is a lobby working against Virat Kohli
Xtra Time Web Desk: Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli's childhood coach, has strongly defended the star batsman against critics of his strike-rate in the IPL 2024 season. In response to the criticism surrounding Kohli's slow century against RR, Sharma emphasized that the critics are neglecting the context of the game. He accused them of merely seeking attention and headlines by targeting Kohli.
Sharma's remarks were made during an interview on India News, where he highlighted the importance of considering the circumstances of each match. Kohli's century, though slow by IPL standards, contributed significantly to RCB's total score. Sharma argued that the critics are overlooking this fact and are unfairly singling out Kohli to gain publicity.

“Some people who are saying this nonsense, I think they don't know the context of the match, what the situation of the match was and how the team was struggling,” he said. "They speak only to be in the news. Just because whenever you speak about a normal player, it does not bring you in the news headlines, but if you speak about a player like Virat Kohli, it brings you in the news headlines."
The coach's defense of Kohli reflects the unwavering support and understanding he has for his protege, emphasizing the broader context of Kohli's performance rather than focusing solely on the strike-rate.
Kohli's childhood coach also said that there is a lobby trying to push an agenda against the RCB star and someone with the knowledge of the game would never do such 'nonsense.'

“Look, this is a lobby which is running an agenda. They're just pushing an agenda, and as fans or true analysts we don't care about their agenda. See, the king will always be the king. A person who knows even the 'C' of cricket would never do such nonsense," said Sharma. Virat currently has a big lead at the top of Orange cap standing with 316 runs with strike rate 146.29. But in this season as Bengaluru has struggled for form and languish in the 9th spot on the points table.
