Xtra Time Web Desk: Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) match against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 25th, in a game which the latter comfortably won by 69 runs.

As it was his team’s first offence for this season, under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Kohli was struck with a fine of Rupees 12 lakh. It wasn’t a good day on the field for Kohli and team RCB, as Chennai ran rampant thanks to a brilliant all-round performance from Ravindra Jadeja. Kohli himself was out early for just 8, while his team crawled to 122/9 when faced with a target of 192.

In case of a second offence, Kohli will face a fine of Rupees 24 lakh, while the other team members face a fine of Rupees 6 lakh or 25 per cent of match fees, whichever is the smaller amount. Furthermore, for a third violation, Kohli has to pay a Rupees 30 lakh fine and serve a one-match ban.
