IPL 2021: Delhi wins a super over thriller vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

Subhabrata Mukherjee : Delhi Capitals is in very good form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021,Indian T-20 League ). In Chepauk stadium,Chennai they got the better of David Warner’s men via super over. The scores were tied at 159 for both teams after their alloted quota of 20 overs.

Delhi batted first on Chepauk wicket. Young Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan again gave Delhi a solid start as they put on 81 runs for the first wicket. Prithvi played a wonderful innings of 53 runs from just 39 balls. He was well supported by Shikhar Dhawan (28). After their departure captain Pant took over the responsibility alongwith Steven Smith. Pant scored 37 from 27 and Smith 34 from 25 which enabled them to put up a score of 159 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Chasing 160 runs to win Hyderabad started poorly losing their captain Warner for just 6 runs. Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson then took over the responsibility. Bairstow smashed 38 runs from just 19 deliveries. Williamson again proved today his importance for the Hyderabad side as he remained not out on 66 from 51 balls to ensure a tie in the 20 overs for his side. Jagadeesha Suchith played a cameo of 14 runs from 6 balls as he remained not out to ensure that match went into superover.

In superover Hyderabad batted first. They could only manage to put up 7 runs on the board vs Axar Patel as they played 2 dot balls and a run short was awarded to them. Chasing 8 runs to ensure two points Pant and Dhawan made sure there are no more hiccups for Delhi vs Rashid Khan.
