Cricketing world went after Ashwin after the incident as many teared him apart for not upholding the spirit of the game.

In the 12 th match of the 14th edition of Indian Premier league while batting first Chennai’s Dwayne Bravo backed up a few yards from the non-striking while Rajasthan bowler Mustafizur Rahman was punished for bowling a no-ball as he marginally overstepped. The picture of that incident is going viral on social media. On Monday, CSK locked horns with Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in a league game of IPL 2021.

Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad criticised the incident in twitter while he tagged ICC as he wrote “the bowler overstepping by a few inches is penalised, but a batsman backing up a few yards isn’t. The bowler has every right to run out a batsman backing up so far. PERIOD. Calling it against the spirit of the game is a joke.”
