He has retired from international duties in the year 2019 on the day of Independence for India. At the moment he is concentrating only on T-20 cricket.

In the last year’s Indian Premier League held at the Emirates, Dhonie really struggled with the bat.He was unable to register a single fifty in that tournament. He only scored 200 runs in that tournament.Like Dhoni’s batting Chennai Super kings struggled throughout the tournament. In their history they failed to make the play -off stage for the first time.

In the 14 th edition of IPL Dhoni is still struggling to find form with the bat. At themoment he has two scores of only 0,18 in this years IPL . This has led to people demanding Dhoni go for retirement as he is ageing. In the post match press conference Dhoni spoke his mind on the issue “I thought we could have got more. The first six balls I played could have cost us in another game. It’s true but when you’re playing, you don’t really want anyone to say he’s unfit. Performance is something that is not guaranteed. I was not guaranteeing performances when I was 24, can’t guarantee when I am 40,”
