Ahmedabad’s newly constructed Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday witnessed a high voltage thriller played out by two of the top teams in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021, Indian T-20 League). Bangalore in the end won the thriller by a single run vs Delhi Capitals. Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer tried their heart out only to fall short by a solitary run.
Bangalore batted first. They started off very poorly. As they lost both their openers Virat (12) and Devdutt Padikkal (17) cheaply. Maxwell (25) along with Rajat Patidar (31) gave the innings the stability it needed before AB Devilliers came in and smashed Delhi bowlers to all parts of the ground. It was due to his innings of 75 runs not out from just 42 deliveries Royal Challengers Bangalore could post 171/5 from 20 overs.
Chasing 172 to victory Delhi also lost their openers Prithvi (21) and Shikhar Dhawan (6) early. Delhi batters Smith (4),Stoinis (22) struggled to get going as they were struggling. Only because of Shimron Hetmyer (53) and Rishabh Pant’s (58) batting Delhi could come nearer to the target only to fall short by a single run.
