Xtra Time Web Desk: Cricket has seen its fair share of innovative strategies, and an incident during KKR vs PBKS adds to this list. While Morgan was on the pitch, a cryptic placard showing ’54’ was spotted in the KKR dugout. Indian cricketing legend Virender Sehwag has reacted to this by saying that there is nothing wrong with the act.

“We have only seen such code language in the army. I think ’54’ was the name of their plan which could be about bowling a certain bowler at a particular time. I think that’s a little help that management and coaches want to give to the captain from the dugout. There’s nothing to frown upon in this,” Sehwag said to Cricbuzz.

Sehwag made the assumption that the code might have been reminding Morgan of some pre-planned strategy or some form of bowling change. An interesting thing to note is that this isn’t the first time that Morgan has been involved with code-exchanging between backroom staff and the players on the pitch. Similar codes comprising of letters and numbers were used in England’s games against South Africa a while back as well. This is definitely an interesting new technique of communication in cricket, and it remains to be seen whether it catches on or not.
