Mehul Bhattacharya: Chelsea and Real Madrid held each other to a 1-1 draw last night at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefani, with both goals coming in the first half itself. This means that Chelsea now has the away goal advantage going into the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

The game saw Chelsea make quite a few attacking inroads from the very start, and they almost went ahead in the 10th minute, when Timo Werner fired it straight at the keeper from the edge of six-yard box, forcing Courtois to save it with his feet. Their attacking efforts were rewarded soon after in the 14th minute, when Pulisic put one in the back of the net after some good work.

Real Madrid were on the back foot for quite a while, but almost managed to get back into the game via a Benzema strike, which clipped the post in the end. Just about 7 minutes later however, Benzema cracked one in from very close range, pegging the score at 1-1.  The second half saw a quite a few chances, but in the end, nothing really came to fruition, and the first half score-line remained unchanged by the time the final whistle was blown, signifying the end of the first leg.
