IPL 2020: World Cup winning England captain Eoin Morgan ready to take this role at KKR

XtraTime Web Desk: England’s World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan is ready to take the role of a finisher at the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). Morgan, who will be leading England in the three match ODI series against Australia starting on Friday at Old Trafford, shared his thoughts at the virtual press conference on Thursday.

Although the Knight Riders team management is yet to decide on the batting position of the England white ball captain but Morgan himself is comfortable if he is being sent in at No 5.

“Batting at No.5 position is probably the most I have done so since making my debut in international cricket. So, it’s a position I am very comfortable with. Moving to four has been a natural progression something that I have been successful with but given the makeup of the Kolkata team I am okay if I am sent in at No 5,” said Morgan in the virtual press conference at Old Trafford.

The Kolkata Knight Riders have a strong batting line up this season with a power-packed middle order in the likes of Andre Russell, captain Dinesh Karthik, Nitish Rana, Chris Green and Eoin Morgan. With England’s new white ball sensation Tom Banton in the side, the opening slot is also settled with Sunil Narine and Shubman Gill being the other options.

The Knight Riders will be starting their campaign in the cash rich league against the reigning champions Mumbai Indians on September 23.
