Internet Desk: India youth international Deependra Singh Negi is set to be on trial with Spanish Segunda Division team Club Gimnastic de Tarragona.

Negi aged 17 hails from the state of Uttarakhand and has represented India at various age groups including Under-14. Under-16 and Under-17. He also captained the Under-17 outfit to victory at the Subroto Cup.

Negi who has spent the summer in Spain will join up for pre-season training with the club from Spain’s second tier commonly known as Nastic. The youngster is considered a prodigious talent for the future but cannot sign a professional contract before he turns 18. He will now be plying his trade with Nastic’s Under-19 setup hoping to feature in the same league that features sides like Espanyol as well as Barcelona and is also the top league in Spain for this age group.

Negi’s agent Ravi Daswani has revealed that the talented youngster is being tracked by a host of Spanish clubs including Las Palmas, but will begin his football education in Spain at Nastic.

He becomes the second Indian youngster to move to Spain after defender Avneet Bharti shifted base a couple of years ago.
