ICC CWC 2023: Eden Gardens and Wankhede stadium to host the two semi-finals

Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a big development, Kolkata’s Eden Gardens and Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will host the two semi-finals of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The schedule of the marquee event will be officially announced in an event in Mumbai on Tuesday, June 27. The tournament will start at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 5 with the final to be played at the same venue on November 19.

According to RevSportz, the semi-finals will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens and Wankhede stadium, both venues having hosted World Cup final previously. It was reported by multiple news portals that Chennai and Mumbai were frontrunners to host the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup but it can now be confirmed that the two semi-finals will be played in Kolkata and Mumbai.

Eden Gardens will also host the India versus South Africa encounter as well on November 5 while both the semi-finals are likely to be played on November 15 and 16.

There has been an unprecedented delay by ICC in announcing the schedule. The much-awaited schedule will be finally announced in a gala event in Mumbai on Tuesday.
