Focus on Ashwin as Team India prepares to take on England in Lucknow | CWC2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: The Indian team management is likely to make one change in their playing XI for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 game against England at Ekana stadium on Sunday, October 28. If practice sessions for the last three days here in Lucknow are an indication, then the veteran off-spinner has a good chance to replace either Shami or Siraj.

The wicket will decide whether Ashwin or Shardul Thakur get an opportunity in Sunday’s game. Ashwin was the only specialist bowler to turn up for the optional practice session on Saturday. He was seen bowling at Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill. Later he batted for a long time in the nets as well.

The practice session began with light warm up drills. Virat Kohli was in a jovial mood as he was seen involved in a fun chat with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill. Soon after the warm up session, Virat and Shubman headed to the practice arena.

There was an injury scare after Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was hit on the wrist during practice. He was immediately attended by the physio. The Indian captain did go into the nets to bat after receiving treatment.

The game has a special resemblance for Rohit as he will lead India for 100th match across formats. Rohit has been in red-hot form in the tournament so far. He has amassed 311 runs in five matches at an average of 62.20 so far.

Both Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav had an extended session in the nets. Surya was seen practicing playing sweep shots.
