Xtra Time Web Desk: It was yet another dominating performance by the Indian cricket team as they beat England by 100 runs at the Ekana stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, October 29, 2023. It was the sixth consecutive wins for Rohit Sharma and his boys in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The hosts are the only undefeated side in the competition. The win almost guarantees the Indian team a spot in the semis.

Captain Rohit Sharma (87 off 101) and Mohammad Shami 22/4 were the key performers for India. Jasprit Bumrah also took 3 wickets. Chasing 230 runs to win, England were bowled out for 129 runs in 34.5 overs. Both Shami and Bumrah shared seven wickets among themselves. Spinners weren't bad either with Kuldeep Yadav probably bowling the ball of the day to dismiss Jos Buttler and ending with figures  of 2 for 24. Ravindra Jadeja also picked 1 for 16. Liam Livingstone top-scored for England with 27 off 46 which was far from enough as India registered a famous win. Jos Buttler’s side are now knocked out of the competition.

Earlier, sent to bat, India struggled at the start with three quick wickets falling with the scoreboard showing 40 runs. But Rohit Sharma (87) and Suryakumar Yadav (49) apart from KL Rahul (39) and Jasprit Bumrah (16) helped India post 229/9.

The Indian team will next face Sri Lanka at the Wankhede stadium on November 02, 2023.
