Xtra Time Web Desk: India women team’s rising star Shafali Verma produced yet another brilliant knock as she notched her second fifty (55*) in the one off test against England at the Bristol County ground on Friday. 17 year old Shafali also became the youngest woman, and the fourth overall, to score back to back half-centuries on test debut. The record was previously held by Australia’s Jessica Louise Jonassen, who was 22 when she scored fifties in both innings of her debut Test match. She too achieved the landmark against England.

England Women are still 82 runs ahead as they were frustrated by a combination of rain and Shafali Verma on day three of the one of the Test match. Mithali Raj’s team will go into the final day, having been asked to follow on, with 108 overs due to be bowled tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, India women were bowled out for 231, giving the hosts a healthy lead of 165 runs. Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the bowlers for England as she finished the innings with figures of four for 88.
