Xtra Time Web Desk: Czech Republic and Croatia settled for 1-1 stalemate in EURO 2020 Group D clash at Hampden Park on Friday. Patrik Schick gave the Czech’s the lead in a controversial circumstances from a penalty in the 37th minute. It was the first real moment of VAR controversy in the ongoing EURO 2020 as the decision to award a penalty was a controversial one.

Schick and Croatian defender Dejan Lovren collided with each other as they jumped for the ball during a Czech Republic corner, with the striker bleeding in the face.VAR intervened and after a check of the pitchside monitor, referee Carlos Del Cerro Grande awarded the penalty in favour of the Czech Republic. Schick converted from the spot kick to register his third goal of EURO 2020.

Croatia equalized immediately after half-time (47th min) through a wonderful solo effort from Ivan Perisic. Both sides had chances to break the deadlock, with Nikola Vlasic missing the best chance when he blew it over from a close range. The draw meant qualification from Group D remains wide open, with much resting on England vs Scotland later on Friday.
