Kolkata:  Shocking exit of Daniel Seaborne rattled Mohun Bagan club today. Even coach of the club Shankarlal Chakraborty was unaware of the fact of his leaving the club as well as the city, till this morning. Today Seaborne was supposed to sign for the club at the IFA office in the afternoon.

May be this is something new to the history of Mohun Bagan club that a much expected foreigner will leave the club on the day of his signing. This fact was unknown to the club officials also till this morning, according to sources. The central defender practiced with the team today. He declared on his departure from Kolkata targeting Europe.

“It was tough decision for me to leave Kolkata. However, I took the decision discussing with the club officials as there was no official contract between us and I am leaving on a mutual understanding. I will leave Kolkata within a few days to give trial in a Greek club Olympiacos F.C.”, said Seaborne.

About the reason of his leaving Seaborne said, “Everybody thinks of his betterment. As a European footballer I had also the dream of playing the European Champions League. If I do not succeed there I will return here.”

However, it was absurd from the part of Mohun Bagan that coach Shankarlal Chakraborty did not know of the status of the player whom he thought to be in his team. Today the coach said about Seaborne, “He practiced. But he needs sometimes to get ready for the match. He may not play in the next match”.

Sources said, Seaborne was not happy with the football infrastructure of Mohun Bagan as well as Kolkata. According to the source, the football played here is seven to eight grades lower to the football played by Seaborne in Scotland and England.

Club officials who were unaware of the decision of Seaborne informed media of his signing at IFA office today. Today assistant General Secretary of Mohun Bagan Srinjoy Bose said, “We talked to Daniel. If someone wishes to leave we do not have any problem”.

However, coach Sankarlal Chakraborty is getting his team ready devoid of the defender Daniel Seaborne. There may be only one change from the previous match against Aryan where they won by 5-1. Midfielder Raynier Fernandes may replace Robinson Singh against George Telegraph tomorrow in their CFL encounter. Coach Chakraborty said, “I asked the players along with Darryl Duffy not to be overconfident.

Three goal scorer of the team Darryl Duffy however, said “I am still not 100% match fit. It will take more four to five matches to be fit. I feel that we did not played better in the first half in the first match. We should go for much better first half to give a better football to our supporters.”
