The loss also raises more general concerns about the team's capacity to adjust when chasing an imposing total, even though Kuldeep's absence has raised questions about India's team selection.
XtraTime Webdesk: Big runs don't win a T20 international by themselves. Just adapting to the situation and executing the right bowling plans can make all the difference. India’s 24-run loss to West Indies in the fourth T20I in Hyderabad was a lesson in itself with the debate over Kuldeep Yadav’s exclusion adding a different dimension to the team’s performance.
The West Indies chose to bat first and scored a huge 247-3 in their 20 overs, with Shai Hope scoring an unbeaten century. Chasing a huge target India began with aggression and Sanju Samson’s 56 off just 23 deliveries kept the hosts in the hunt. However the Caribbean bowlers made a comeback with disciplined bowling and timely breakthroughs.
Keemo Paul proved to be a significant difference-maker, taking five wickets and making it difficult for India to chase the big score. In high-scoring T20 matches, his performance demonstrated the value of bowling variations, tactical awareness. India ultimately fell 24 runs short of the target, finishing at 223/9. And, here India lacks the scrutiny for picking up the right bowlers.
The loss also raises more general concerns about the team's capacity to adjust when chasing an imposing total, even though Kuldeep's absence has raised questions about India's team selection. For the Indian batting unit, maintaining momentum, defending wickets, and adapting to shifting bowling strategies will be essential.
India will need to rectify these issues and strike the correct balance between aggression and responsibility in order to recover as the series approaches a pivotal point.
