Big Update: Dates and venue likely confirmed for the staging of suspended matches of IPL 2021

IPL 2021 Phase 2 is likely to be staged between September 15 – October 15 window in UAE.

Xtra Time Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chalked out a plan to stage the IPL 2021 Phase 2 matches. In all likelihood the matches will be staged in UAE from September 15 – October 15. The remaining matches of IPL 2021 will take place before the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup in India. If the COVID-19 crisis continues in India, UAE will be the likely destination. The International Cricket Council is likely to take a final call at its AGM on June 2. The ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to be played from October 18 in India

Meanwhile, BCCI is currently in talks with the ECB to reduce the gap between the 2nd and 3rd Test of India’s series against England. There is a nine-day gap between the 2nd and 3rd Test. The 2nd Test is scheduled from August 12-16 and the 3rd test is from August 25.

It will be a 30-day window to play the remaining 31 matches with eight double-headers over four weekends.

The final decision will be taken at BCCI Special General Meeting on May 29. The dilemma has been over two factors — first the ICC T20 World Cup and the second is India’s 5-match Test series against England.
