Xtra Time Web Desk : Sri Lanka is in all likelihood to lose the Asia Cup 2022 to UAE in a latest development, which reportedly states about moving the tournament from the Island nation due to their internal crisis of civil unrest which has plagued them to the core.

“BCCI has raised concerns about civil unrest in the country and if the tournament is interrupted, we would lose a sum to the tune of US$ six million. However, we indicated that protests around the country against the government have been peaceful. We are keeping our fingers crossed” told a Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) official to The Island.

It is in all likelihood that the final decision regarding the Asia Cup will be taken on the eve of the IPL final in May, as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Jay Shah had earlier invited Sri Lanka Cricket officials to watch the final of the premium T20 franchise tournament.

However, with the talks of the Asia Cup being shifted, United Arab Emirates is proving itself to be one of the powerhouse of cricket once again.
